ARCA
supplies valves for natural gas reservoir
As the demand for natural gas increases in the
European Union, reservoir capacity is becoming
increasingly important. After two years of construction
the first phase facilities at the biggest natural
gas reservoir in Austria has been put into operation,
current storage capacity is 1,2 billion cubic
metres of natural gas. Completion of the second
phase will see this double, equivalent to approximately
a quarter of the annual Austrian need for natural
gas.
The
valves that have been delivered by ARCA will be
used in the gas drying plant as well as in the
rejection process. The high pressure angular valves
for drilling water, which contains solid contaminants
at pressures up to 160 bar, has proved a particular
technical challenge. For this application control
valves with multistage hard metal trim were chosen
for their ability to operate under extreme conditions
