Valves
for Methanol plant
ARCA Regler GmbH with headquarters in Germany
have just delivered an order for control valves
of a new plant producing Methanol in Oman. The
order was for a hundred control valves of the
reliable and well-proven control valve series
ECOTROL® with a nominal size 1“ (DN25)
to 16“ (DN400) and pressure classes ANSI
150, 300, 600 and 900. The designs are required
to withstand expected operating conditions which
include resistance to sandstorms and the influence
of salty air. No matter how small a gap at the
control valves and positioners may be (explosion-proof
design has been used), it has to be absolutely
tight against dust. Even for the transport this
had to be guaranteed.
Methanol
is a basic chemical that can be produced in different
ways. In this plant it will be produced by synthesis
of natural gas. In the future Methanol will have
an important share in the power supply. Methanol
can in combination with oil become a biofuel,
in petrol it can replace Ethanol and therewith
provide a basis for the production of synthetic
fuel, and it can, because of its simple chemical
structure, gain in importance as hydrogen supplier
in the future fuel cell technology.
ARCA
contributes with its control valves to the protection
of the energy supply of our society. The implemented
ECOTROL® valves are for the time being the
best available technology for such challenging
industrial controlling tasks.
